Trace Holt | Super Experience Host

I moved to Austin from San Marcos, Texas, 20 years ago on a BMX bike with my life in a backpack. My first apartment was a hammock in my friend’s backyard. I wanted to be an artist, and Austin called to me like ancestral beaches call to sea turtles. I have worn many hats over the years in this beautiful city- line cook, food truck owner, father, street artist- but nothing else has ever made me feel more connected to this city than being a tour guide. Showing people what I love about this place has made me fall deeper in love every day with the city as I seek out new restaurants, hike and bike trails, music experiences, and hidden gems to share with my family, friends, and newcomers to Austin.

Trace’s Austin Recommendations

Here are my 5 favorite things to brag about to people in Austin:

  1. Phoebe’s Diner (the Brisket Benny will change your life)
  2. The espresso martini at Odd Duck (it comes out of a tap, but that’s how I know it’s always going to be the same amazing experience)
  3. Wink (hidden little wine bar with a menu that changes constantly but is always somehow the best food in the city)
  4. Mount Bonnel (all those stairs are more than worth the best scenic view of the city)
  5. .50 Cent Wings EVERY MONDAY at The Rusty Cannon (quaint little sports bar in South Austin, don’t get there too early though because they’re only slinging wings from 8 pm to midnight)
