On a very hot Friday, my husband and I signed up for Austin Detours Street Art tour. For 2 1/2 hours our guide Sunny, enlightened us on the many types of street art. While I have seen street art before, I never had a basis for understanding it. Perhaps the most impressive viewing was the outdoor HOPE gallery. It is a shame to know that this iconic plays for Street art is soon to be razed. Sunny, ensured that passengers had cold water and also offered umbrellas so tour participants had protection from the blazing sun!

Elisa picked us up at the office for an afternoon of street art around Austin. “Greetings from Austin” was first, natch, and then they took us to see the most beautiful murals in town on Barton Springs Road; look for Hina, a Hawaiian goddess, and several other works on the walls facing the parking lot. Amazing offsite!

My classmates and I went on a Street Art Tour via our Texas Pharmacy Association annual conference excursion package. They took us to the east side of Austin and showed us multiple murals, including augmented reality one downtown. Our guides Alex and Jason were very friendly; they provided a lot of great background information about the murals as well as history of Austin, and even recommendations on where to go and what to do on our free time from the conference. I enjoyed the tour a lot, although I wish the weather had been a little cooler.
