Let’s head for the hills! This road trip takes you out of Austin and into our beloved Hill Country for amazing food and wine. Texas has long been famous for its amazing BBQ and has quickly become a top destination for wine lovers as well! Texas Hill Country is the third largest wine-growing region in the United States covering more than 9 million acres. Our first stop will be  Salt Lick, one of the most famous BBQ pits in the Lone Star State, where you can savor fall-off-the-bone brisket, sausage, turkey and out-of-this-world sides. Then we will wind through the hills, stopping at two different award-winning Texas wineries along the way. This is the quintessential Hill Country tour!

Our Hill Country Shuttle is Only $60

  • Daily departures at 10:30AM
  • Meet at the Austin Visitor Center (602 E 4th Street)
  • Shuttle returns to the Austin Visitor Center by 3:00PM

AUSTIN WINE TOUR: Wine & Wildflowers

Come experience Texas wildflower season with Austin Detours (and also wine)!

Sundays at 1:30PM and 3:00PM

Join your fun, local guide for a tour through the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (admission ticket included) which is home to nearly 900 species of Texas native plants. See the beautiful bluebonnets, firewheels, and Indian paintbrushes — just to name a few — that the Lone Star State is known for!

Then we’ll head for the Hill Country. Gaze at the colorful fields of blooming wildflowers along the roadside as we make our way to Wimberley Valley Winery. Sample delicious local wines in the tasting room or grab some wine by the glass/bottle to enjoy outside before we make our way back to Austin. Please see Important Notes below.

Our Wine & Wildflowers Tour is $50 Per Person

Join us on Sunday afternoons between April 3rd and May 8th, 2022

Departure times: 1:30PM and 3:00PM

Duration: Approx. 3.5 hours

Meeting Point: Tours begin and end at the Austin Visitor Center (602 E 4th Street)
